'Tox Aftercare 101: What I Tell Every Client Before They Leave

After years of doing this, the question I get most after a 'tox appointment isn't "did it work" — it's "what do I do now?" So here's the rundown I give every client before they walk out the door.

The First Few Hours Matter Most

Most of the important action happens in the first four to six hours, while the product is settling into place. That's why the rules right after your appointment are the strictest:

  • Stay upright for at least 4 hours — lying down too soon can let product drift to where you don't want it.
  • Don't rub or massage the treated area. Even gentle pressure can shift things before they've settled.
  • Skip the workout today. An elevated heart rate raises your risk of bruising.
  • Hold off on alcohol — it thins the blood and makes bruising more likely.

The Next Day or Two

  • No facials, peels, microneedling, or laser treatments for 1–2 weeks.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, and very hot tubs for 24–48 hours.
  • Try to sleep on your back or side rather than face-down.
  • Pause ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, and vitamin E if you can — Tylenol is fine for any soreness.

What's Totally Fine

You can eat, work, walk, drink water, and even put on makeup the next day. Gentle facial expressions are totally fine too — go ahead and smile, I promise it won't undo anything.

When Will I See Results?

Most people start noticing a difference around day 3 to 5, with the full effect settling in by about two weeks. That's exactly why we always wait the full two weeks before considering any touch-up — your results need that time to fully develop.

If anything ever feels off — more swelling than expected, asymmetry that worries you, anything unusual — call us. We would always rather hear from you than have you wonder.
